There isn’t a decent way to photograph this meat but…hello Rendang! And the rendang of choice in this kitchen is the Minangkabau variety. So many versions of this dish, some people call it a curry and indeed versions of this in Malaysia have spices in it like cumin and coriander. In Indonesia there are versions with soy sauce, but I looove the deep darkness of rendang Padang, which has no spices, but A LOT of coconut milk. Yes..coconut milk.
